Hold and Win slots

Hold and Win slots at Slotornado

Hold and Win slots centre on a dedicated respin round triggered by special bonus symbols. Instead of clearing the reels on every spin, the qualifying symbols stay locked in place while the remaining reel positions spin independently. Slotornado features a wide selection of these titles in CAD, supplied by studios like Playson, BGaming, Gamzix, and Betsoft.

How the bonus round triggers and plays

In most Hold and Win and Hold the Spin games, the feature starts when you land a designated number of special symbols during the base game. These are usually coins, diamonds, or theme-specific tokens. Depending on the rules of the specific title, landing between three and six bonus symbols on a single spin initiates the bonus sequence.

When the round activates, the triggering symbols lock onto the grid. You receive a set counter of respins, usually three. Every time a new bonus icon lands on an open space, it also sticks to the reels, and the respin counter resets to its starting number. The round continues until you run out of respins with no new icons landing, or until every position on the grid contains a locked symbol.

Coin symbols, modifiers, and fixed jackpot prizes

Each coin or token that lands during the bonus round carries a specific cash value or a fixed jackpot label. These labels usually correspond to tiers displayed above the reels, such as Mini, Minor, Major, or Grand. These are fixed in-game prize tiers set by the game rules, distinct from progressive pooled networks.

Some releases introduce collection mechanics or multipliers that alter total payouts before the feature ends. For instance, collector symbols add together all displayed cash amounts on the board into a single position, clearing space or doubling up values. In other games, filling the entire board triggers the top fixed prize on top of the sum of all individual coins.
